Benjamin Hammond
Ben brings more than eight years of experience overseeing management of the endowments of leading private educational institutions. He has particular expertise in coordinating investment strategy with an institution’s mission and financial planning and operations, with a focus on investment policy, asset allocation and risk management, and sustainable endowment spending policies. Currently he serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Board Secretary of the Lawrenceville School, where he sits on and staffs the School’s investment committee, which manages Lawrenceville’s $480 million endowment. Previously, he was the VP for Finance and Administration and Treasurer at Wellesley College, where he sat with and helped staff the Trustee investment committee that oversaw the management of the College’s investment office and $1.8 bill endowment. Before that, Ben served as VP for Finance and Administration and Treasurer of Mount Holyoke College, where he staffed the Trustee investment committee that managed the College’s $750 million endowment. Previously he held senior positions in the administration of Princeton University and was a management consultant at McKinsey and Company. Ben holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Harvard College, magna cum laude, in History and Literature.
Charles C. Ruch (Chair)
As a relationship manager in Wellington Management’s San Francisco office, Charlie works with clients in the western US, including endowments, foundations, public funds, and corporate pension plans. Charlie is responsible for assisting clients with long-term investment strategy and policy issues, evaluating portfolio risks and performance, ensuring compliance with policy guidelines and applicable regulations, resolving administrative and operational issues, and meeting with clients to discuss investment- and business-related issues on a regular basis. Charlie graduation from Harvard Business School with an MBA (2005) and he earned his BA in History and Science from Harvard College (1997). Additionally, Charlie holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Vera Trojan
Vera is a former Partner and Portfolio Manager at Wellington Management Company LLP, where for over 25 years she managed global emerging markets equity portfolios. She is currently Vice-Chair of the 20-20 Investment Association, a unique non-profit that explores investment opportunities in emerging markets. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the Brandeis International Business School, teaching a course on Business and Economic Strategies in Emerging Markets. Vera is a member of The Council on Foreign Relations and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst Designation. She is a graduate of Princeton University, AB Economics, and Harvard Business School (MBA).
Dudley Winthrop
In over 25 years working in various aspects of private wealth management for a small family-run firm, Woodwin Management, Inc., Dudley has gained extensive experience in estate planning, wealth preservation and charitable foundation administration. Dudley is also active in many aspects of St. Alban’s Church in Washington, DC, serving on a committee which evaluates and awards grants to needy organizations in the DC area, as well as on the church’s finance committee and vestry. He also serves as vice chair of the Washington Conservatory of Music, a local community music school. On North Haven, Dudley has served as treasurer of the North Haven Golf Club and currently as its president. Dudly holds a join BA degree in economics and mathematics from Middlebury College.
